When the AFK Journey team sat down to read the room, they didn’t just scroll past the chatter. They opened the feedback floodgates, and honestly? They leaned in. More than a month after the season update dropped, the devs came back with a hefty community note to clear the air on hero schedules, seasonal content, and the burnout elephant in the room.

A lot of players had been stuck in the dark, unsure whether to hoard resources or spend them. To fix that, the team broke their future plans into three main buckets: upcoming heroes, seasonal content, and a fresh Pioneer Server experiment.
Hero Schedules: The Long Game
The team kept things refreshingly straightforward. Each season will run for four months, bringing 7–8 heroes from the four main factions and 2–3 Celestial and Hypogean heroes. For the Song of Strife season, the exact mix was set at seven four-faction heroes and two Celestial and Hypogean heroes. The exact dates were promised on all platforms, so players could finally stop second-guessing their summon savings.
Once the current Rate Up Recruitment window closes, those same heroes won’t vanish into the vault. Players can select them in the Wish List for All-Hero Recruitment or in Epic Recruitment. There is also a chance to pull them from S-Level and A-Level Soulstones, and they will appear in the Emporium in future seasons. In other words, missing a Rate Up banner is no longer the end of the world.
Seasonal Content: No More Flying Blind
Before a new season kicks off, official channels will share a preview that includes game content, gameplay events, and rough timelines. The Song of Strife season got an early overview, with a deeper dive promised before launch. This was a clear nod to players who like to plan their calendars and resource budgets.
Pioneer Server: Early Access with a Twist
The team also floated a Pioneer Server, a data-wipe testing playground for the new season. Enthusiastic players could get an early taste of upcoming content, and their feedback would shape the official release. Seats were expected to be limited, so the message was simple: keep your eyes peeled.
Astral Fair: Fewer Hoops, More Rewards
The devs admitted a misstep: timed logins were about including players across time zones, but they accidentally created a schedule headache. In future versions of Astral Fair, the event frequency would jump up so people could play whenever it suited them.
Rewards also got a makeover. Astral Vouchers would come from Daily Quest rewards, and playing Astral Fair once a day for several days would earn most prizes. The event duration would stretch, and the rewards page would clearly show conditions. Players who only wanted the loot wouldn’t need to sit through the full 15 minutes. They could complete the conditions and bounce. Rank chasers could still grind for glory.
Burnout and Level Gaps: Closing the Distance
One of the sharpest complaints was the season-start sprint. If a player didn’t claim rewards and push stages quickly, they felt permanently behind. The team acknowledged the concern and pointed to the Baseline Level system used in multiplayer modes. As Season Resonance Levels rise, level-based gaps shrink. In competitive modes like Supreme Arena and Season Dream Realm, the impact of Season Resonance Levels above 560 would be significantly reduced.
In the current season, version 16 introduced an auto-progression feature. Players could let stages advance in the background while doing other things, which was a welcome quality-of-life win.
For future seasons, the team laid out four big adjustments:
-
🔹 Smarter AFK rewards: Season AFK Rewards would be calculated from the moment the server transitions, with early XP Essence amounts balanced to narrow the gap.
-
🔹 Daily world unlocks: World chapter areas would unlock daily. The plan: two areas on day one, then one new area each day.
-
🔹 Max AFK progress cap: Each district would have a daily maximum AFK progress for XP gain. For example, if the cap was Stage 500 on day X: Player A at Stage 625 and Player B at Stage 575 would both earn XP based on Stage 500, while Player C at Stage 495 would earn based on Stage 495. Other benefits, like higher-level equipment, remained unaffected.
-
🔹 Dura's Trials unlocked daily: Starting next season, floors in Dura's Trials would no longer require AFK progress to unlock, only daily waiting.
The note ended on a warm, slightly cheeky note: the team watches YouTube, reads Reddit, and even spies on Discord. It was a fitting close for a community that had asked for clarity and got a full plate of it.
